Description
For this oil painting, I used a ‘grisaille’ underpainting for everything except the actual flowers. Grisaille as a technique has been used for centuries by artists and in my case means that I first created a layer of monochrome shades of a blueish grey to draw the actual motif and finished the painting with a light glaze of colour on top. This had the exciting effect of creating a more vibrant contrast between the orange curtain, the green chair as well as the pink flowers.
